||
This duplex stainless steel high pressure gate valve is manufactured from ASTM A182 F51 (UNS S31803, 1.4462) duplex stainless steel, combining the strength of ferritic stainless steel with the corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel. The 2-inch Class 2500LB pressure seal bonnet design delivers exceptional performance in corrosive high-pressure environments where standard carbon steel and 316 stainless steel valves fail prematurely. The duplex microstructure provides outstanding resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking (CSCC). Ideal for seawater injection systems, offshore platform topside piping, chemical processing with chlorinated media, desalination plants, and subsea production equipment.

Q: When should we specify duplex F51 instead of 316 stainless steel?
A: Specify F51 duplex when your application involves: (1) seawater or brackish water above 25°C where 316 SS will pit, (2) any chloride-containing environment above 60°C where 316 SS risks CSCC failure, (3) high-pressure systems where F51's higher strength allows lighter valve weight, or (4) environments requiring both corrosion resistance and erosion resistance due to the higher hardness of duplex materials. The PREN of F51 (33-35) vs 316 SS (24-26) quantifies this improved chloride resistance.
Q: Are duplex valves suitable for subsea applications?
A: Yes, our F51 duplex gate valves are suitable for shallow water subsea applications. For deep water (>300m) subsea, we recommend super duplex F55 (UNS S32760, PREN > 40) for enhanced pitting resistance at depth. Full hyperbaric testing capability is available for subsea qualification programs.
Q: What special welding procedures are required for field installation of butt weld ends?
A: Duplex stainless steels require controlled heat input (0.5-2.5 kJ/mm), interpass temperature control (maximum 150°C), and proper filler metal selection (ER2209 for F51). We provide detailed WPS documentation and can supply weld procedure qualification coupons for your field welding contractor qualification.
